The Forgotten Meadow

Man is such a selfish treacherous
beast, his praise is always bloody worthless.
His love therefore is equinoctial, as
heart melts and eye with lust turns sulphurous.
His love is always abominably two.
Praise him his north and damnably his south
goes round and takes the words scarce left your mouth.
The dead are constant. Perhaps the unborn true.
Beyond the glade of nothing are the rest
at work outrunning the whirlwind of fire.
If only we could die and yet not die or
find some pleasant shadow to invest
wherefrom observe the whole creation not
as part, but from the meadow god forgot.
